There is one of a relatively new type of mat that provides all sorts of interesting areas for your feet to explore while you stand. This mat has a good balance of size and function. It is soft and so good for socks, slippers, or bare feet. It is small enough that it is easy to move around when you switch from standing to sitting. And, it does a better job of staying in place than many mats I’ve reviewed.

Be aware that this mat is tall and it doesn’t stay in one place. This does make it a trip hazard. All mats in this category that we’ve seen so far have these two problems.

This is a “Kitchen Mat” designed to be used with slippers, socks, or bare feet. This is in comparison to a “Standing Mat” which is generally designed for use with your shoes and is thus much more firm.

One of the cool features of this mat is that it has a different design on the front and back. I used the side with the bumps for a week or so before switching to the sloped side for my feet. Now I’m back to the bumps, primarily because I don’t like having the large elevated area in the middle in my way. You may find a different preference. And that is one of the cool aspects of this mat.

The mat comes in black and has a hint of glossiness to the finish. With the raised edges and raised front and back fidget areas you will definitely get comments from your coworkers on your standing mat choice. This mat comes in a single size and so is good for single position desks, like the Luxor standing desk.

If you’re using this mat on a slick surface or on a treadmill, be aware that it is slippery on the bottom and will move. You will want to use an additional non-slip product between the Ergocomfy and the floor. This isn’t a big deal until you wipe out for the first time. If you’re on a standard corporate America rug then this will stay in place pretty well.

You also need to be aware of the ridge line around the mat which can be a trip hazard, particularly as you exit the mat. Generally, you will have no trouble clearing this ridge, it is shorter than the typical height of your step, however, if you exit the mat oddly you may catch it.

Also be aware, if this is your first mat, that you’ll need to move the mat into position and out of the way when you want to stand/sit. There are a few very large mats on the market that can handle a chair but this is not one of them.

Overall this is an enjoyable mat to use, has good texture, and will bring you some comfort.
