CEOs are usually the ones that sit the most while they make phone calls, have indoor meetings and briefings as well as travel. Spending a lot of time at their desk in the office reduces their fitness and increases the number of health risks. For the past couple of years, the CEOs of many companies have been transitioning from desks where they can sit, to desks where they can stand or walk.
The human body is designed for regular movement but most of the adults spend a bulk of their time sitting still while at work and even home. As an example, 10 hours of sitting per day can’t be counteracted by 30-60 min of workout each day. Think about how many if you fit in a category of people that don’t have any workout at all which means that your body is virtually in sedentary position all the time.
While a brief period of sitting here and there is natural, long periods of sitting day-in and day-out can seriously impact your health and shorten your life.
These CEOs decide to make drastic changes in their working environment for both health and productivity benefits. It might look silly to others but think about the benefits and then consider how silly the others will look in a couple of years. We hope these CEOs will inspire you to take action and start thinking how you can improve your health and productivity in the office.
